Touring the World with the Truth About Drugs
International cities in every corner of the world have recently seen a bright teal peak standing out in the middle of their streets, bearing the Truth About Drugs message. The Foundation for a Drug-Free World has new mobile exhibits that go everywhere to educate people about the dangers of drugs and prevent children from falling victim to addiction.
While talking with visitors, volunteers at the exhibit are struck by the stark reality of parents struggling with children caught in addiction, mothers who have lost a child to overdose, executives coping with a substance-affected workforce, ex-convicts whose lives were derailed by drug abuse and expectant mothers battling addiction and risking their babies’ health.
“We ran into an older lady who opened up and told us she had just helped her son get off fentanyl,” shares one volunteer.
“A woman and her sister stopped by the Drug-Free World Mobile Exhibit,” says another volunteer. “She is a registered nurse, but she was formerly a homeless drug addict for many years. She never went to high school and was estranged from her sister. She was physically abused by her father and ran off to the streets where she ended up in the worst situation imaginable.”
There is also the story of a grandmother who has been drug-free for eight years. But her daughter recently started smoking pot and her son-in-law is frequently drunk. As a result, her seven-year-old grandson often calls her to tell her how “Dad is drunk again.”
Although these stories are heartbreaking, the Foundation for a Drug-Free World provides visitors with solutions. They can get The Truth About Drugs booklets to equip themselves with easy-to-understand information, become volunteers, pledge to live drug-free or order full educational kits for schools or communities. The impact? Teachers now have the tools to educate hundreds of students and steer them away from drugs. Shopkeepers share booklets with their customers. Mothers use the materials to keep their kids from falling into the trap of drug abuse. Former addicts are empowered to help others get off drugs. Law enforcement officers can prevent drug-related crime.
The feedback says it all: people are grateful. “A spark of hope came in to people’s eyes when they learned why I was volunteering,” says one volunteer. “I told them that with the rise of drug use, it was my duty to be there and do something.”

TAKING ACTION
Join the Worldwide Team
Can you educate youth on the dangers of drugs? Can you save lives? Yes, you can.
Tens of thousands of children and teens die every year from drug abuse. Many millions more become the adverse effect of them. All because no one took the time to educate them on what drugs really do.
You can join the ever-expanding teams of volunteers who rapidly get trained on how to deliver drug-prevention seminars. The Truth About Drugs educational materials work. Get them, study them and start delivering lectures to youth. Reach them before the dealers do.
Soon, you will stand back and watch the changes you have produced and hear from those you taught that they will never use drugs after what they learned. You will have given them real help and made the world a saner and safer place to live in.
