A Short History of N-bomb
N-bomb was developed in 2003 by chemist Ralf Heim at the Free University of Berlin, Germany. It was derived from a group of drugs called the 2C family of phenethylamines (PEA).*
The 2C PEA was originally created in labs in the 1970s where scientists were studying brain activity in rats. It produces hallucinations and mind-altering experiences similar to those of LSD.
In 2012, nine of the PEA drugs were made illegal in the US, including the substance used to make N-bomb.
Drug dealers produce various versions of N-bomb in secret laboratories or import them in bulk from countries like China and India.
Manufacturers alter the formula to bypass the government bans, so users never know what they are taking or how potent it will be.
A study of the harm caused by N-bomb found that out of 42 reported cases of use, nine users died.
